Is it OK to take my 5 months baby to swimming pool?

My baby is 5 1/2 months old. Is it OK to take him to swimming pool? I am little worried about him catching cold and cough etc. What if he swallow lot of water?

absolutely.  if he loves the bath, he will love the pool.  my neice is a water baby to this day at 12 years old and she was put in the ocean at a few days old and then to the pool ever since.  she learned how to swim almost before she could walk.  do your best to keep him from swallowing water.  have fun!

just make sure to give him a bath immediately afterwards so the chlorinated water doesn't over dry his skin.

You probably shouldn't let him swallow any water.  There is nothing wrong with getting him wet while you are holding him.  Keep his face away from the water.  Going swimming will not make him catch a cold, it's no different than taking a bath.  Keep other kids away from him if you are worried about him picking up a germ.

i HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY DAUGHTER. shes 6 months now but i did started taking her at 5 months. she loved it, i did however put her in a floatie that i got from walmart that was for babies 6 months and up but she fit right in. i put some waterbabies sun protecion, but i heard neutrogena is the best, just try a little in his leg and see how it reacts. if you keep him in the floatie he wont swallow water and will have lots of fun!!! oh yeah bring some toys so he can play too!! dont worry the water is just fine, just make sure you bath him after. :0)

My little sisters (now three) absolutely LOVE the pool, even at that young age. And they swallowed water and was fine.The chlorine in the pool should kill most disease, but if other babies in the pool don't have properly wiped behinds, swallowing water could lead to diarrhea from f***s partices. But I hope that doesn't discourage you from taking your baby to the pool, because he'll love it, I'm sure. Just be wary of water swallowing.

He will be fine. the water is chlorinated.  If it was toxic all of us would have never survived childhood.  Relax and let him have fun.  Just watch him real good.,
