I take st. johns wort for depression, but since ive been taking it i dont take my vitamins anymore because i wasnt sure if everything was ok to mix. I'd like to start taking them again. Im not pregnant or even trying, but i do take prenantals because they have everything any women should be getting. Are these supplements ok to mix, afterall, they are just vitamins?

  1. Yes ,it is OK .St johns wort cant be taken with  certain medications .You are fine .

  2. Yes, you can take Fish Oil, St. John's Wort, and a multivitamin, but you should not take a prenatal and a daily multi together... a prenatal multi is what you should take as your daily multi, otherwise you could overdose on some of the nutrients that you'd be getting in both. And while they may be "just vitamins", you can still get too much, which can cause problems (especially the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K).

Also, to note, St. John's Wort has a big warning that it's not recommended for pregnant or lactating women (or women on many forms of birth control, but that's another story), so if you get pregnant or are trying to get pregnant, you'll probably want to switch to another supplement for your depression. Good luck!

  3. I'm not sure if you'll be getting too much from taking prenatals with all the others since they have more of everything in them.  You may want to ask your doctor if that mixture is alright.
