Perfectly safe, you who are so uninformed.  Mothers and newborns now leave the hospital the day after delivery.  This is not the 1900's when women had to take to bed for two weeks after having a child.  Well, that was women of wealth, actually.  REAL women, with work to do and homes to run and children to raise probably gave birth and went right on with their work.  I know my mother said my grandmother did. (Grandmother....born 1864...seven children).

Edit:  Tribeca, I doubt you have any children at all.  If you have had a number of children, you know your delivery schedule, from the time the "water breaks" until birth.  If she got on a plane and flew home, it's because she knew, according to her past history, that she had time to get there.  There's this little thing about contractions...interval, duration, strength, etc.  Babies don't get born without them.(unless they're C-Secs, and even then most docs wait for labor to begin).

The real safety and judgment issue concerns Palin flying back to Alaska on a long flight when she was allegedly about to deliver. If she knew that the baby had special needs, which she must have, what could she have been thinking? The woman sounds irresponsible.

Don't be silly young lady. How long do you think a woman is supposed to lay around after a birth. My goodness I am an obstetrics RN and parents take their newborns home 12 to 24 hours after birth now. I doubt that McCain had to pull her out of her hospital bed!!!LOL!!!!

I just love how you on the left want women's Rights until that woman doesn't agree with you. She's fine, just like the rest of us women that have given birth and gone back to work within weeks.  Giving birth to a child doesn't make us weak.
