Wade is playing amazing. Kobe put up the most points for the team today so who cares if he doesnt have any steals.  Wade would try to steal the ball and when he missed the steal it would mess up the defense. Kobe played defense and not going just for the steal. Wade is clearly the mvp right now and kobe is the best defensive player on team usa right now. Dont know whats your beef with him but he is clearly doing something right if many people have to critisize his game. He was MVP last year and Celtics had no possible way to lose with those players.

steals and block doesnt mean ure a good defensive stopper, its the defensive awareness and ability to alter your opponents' shot that counts.

Yes, I believe so. However, Kobe also lead all scorers that game. That's the beauty of this years USA basketball team: Nearly every one of these players are versatile enough to lead in one category and let other players pick up the slack in another.

Also, a high amount of steals don't usually reflect a defensive stopper; high steals just reflects great passing anticipation. Defensive stoppers just pressure the ball enough so that other players can get steals. Take Bruce Bowen and Allen Iverson for example. AI is in the top five in steals per game all-time. Bruce Bowen doesn't even average a single steal per game. Now, which one of those would you consider more of a defensive stopper?

Did you see the game or just look at the stats? I watched it and Kobe is the best defender on the team. His unselfish playing and the way he pressures the other team best player every time, every play causes the other team's players to make poor passes and creates turn over. When kobe is all over these guys the pass and Wade cuts off the pass for the steal. They are all playing great pressure D together. A lot of people on here think these other teams are third world players and Kobe shouldn't get credit because the other team sucks. Well Greece beat us in 2006 without Kobe, in 2004 we lost 3 games to the international teams. Many of the players either play in the us or could and or will someday. The NBA is not as attractive as it once was to the international players, they can make more in Europe so many are staying in Europe and they dont wanna come to USA.
