  3. It depends if you tell the patient that it won't melt in their hand, otherwise your in trouble

  4. I wouldn't think so. To insure the test is valid and reliable, the placebo pill should mimic the test pill in all aspects. If the test pill does not melt in the mouth while the placebo does, then the test becomes unreliable. Since both groups are allowed to interact, this small detail shared between the test subjects may have a large impact on their subjective responses.
