  1. I would ask, "Wo ist die Toilette bitte? or Wo sind die Toiletten bitte?"

Don't rely on online translators, generally the natives have it 100%.

Alwin is correct about the WC signs and costs.

  2. voo ist der toileten. bitte?

  3. Watch for signs which say Herren (Men) or Damen (women) also.

  4. There's no correct way, just use the one you're

more comfy with. You won't get sent to a KZ if

you say "Where is the bathroom?"

    LoL

I know, I have a very weird humour and like to make

    fun of my countries past...

  5. Yes, we call it "Toilette" and not bathroom as we only go there for a pee and washing hands afterwards and not for taking a shower. A bathroom is the place we usually are taking a shower or a bath. Many toilets and bathrooms are seperated in Germany. We are not upset using the word "toilet" if we need to go there because this is a normal word and not a dirty one. But I know from a couple of English speaking natives that you seldom call it toilet.

  6. this "toilet is a dirty word" is US specific. everywhere else in the world you can say toilet.

  7. Usually you say "Wo ist die Toilette?" or "Wo sind die Toiletten?"

  8. Wo sind die Toiletten: Where are the toilets.

    Damen--women

    Herren-men

Also, many public washroom require a small tip, or are serviced by men/women looking to tips. It's part of the service industry there.

  9. Just say,

    "Wo ist das Klo?"

    ("Where's the loo?")

That's perfectly alright in German. You don't have to disguise human needs.

When you're in a public area, like a train station or shopping center, the signs read "WC" (for "water closet"). Follow the arrows, but be ready to get charged for it, something between 50 euro-cents and 1.50 euros.

  10. u can go by either, toilet is Toilette and bathroom is badzimmer
