Selling used furniture online-I know people do it on Ebay, but I'm having doubts. I just started my business (like a couple days ago) and people keep calling asking where I'm located. So now I'm getting discouraged because their reaction when I tell them the store is on-line is "oh" like they are surprised. Do you think this is a stupid idea? There's definitely a market, but I'm concerned people won't buy on-line. It's local only with free delivery.

  1. Most people want to SEE furniture before buying it. Just like with cars. They want to see it in person.

You might do better if you get an actual "physical" store or garage to sell your stuff. Plus, you wont need to ship it.

    Another idea is using Craigslist.

    Good luck.

  2. I personally wouldn't buy used furniture that I couldn't go and look at.  Why?  Because I would want to know for myself that it doesn't smell bad, that the cushions aren't lumpy, that the upholstery isn't frayed or stained.

While I'm sure you're a trustworthy and sincere person, it's not reasonable to expect people to just take your word for it that your pre-owned merchandise is in good shape.
