  1. Not sure where you are, but here in Texas if you use the selling agent as your agent as well, you get additional paperwork to sign saying that you understand they are working for the seller not for you and that its up to you to seek independent advice if needed. Theres a reason they make you sign that............

  2. personal opinion only.... assuming you're talking about the listing agent also being the selling agent.

yes, how can the agent represent both the buyers and sellers.  YOUR agent should be fighting for you (assuming you're the buyer?).  The other agent should be fighting for the sellers.

My sister in law is an agent, and does it all the time.  I keep my big mouth shut around her.

If your talking about YOUR listing agent looking to help you purchase a house too, that's a different story.  I'm okay with that.

  3. Most agents don't give a d**n about your interests. They just want to buy or sell.

There are a few good agents around. They are very few. This is why you need referal to find a good agent.

Take agents as car dealers. They are con man trying to make a killing.  Never buy fast and never sell early - this is the key to check out your agent if he is honest to you.

  4. Yes its a very bad idea. While that Realtor may have told you different, and why not they want 6% verses 3%. How can someone represent both of you fairly when your sitting on opposites sides of the table ?
