Question:

Is it a bad idea to buy a car without looking at it?

I'd like to buy a car but it's 100 miles away and I'm hoping I can ask them to deliver it to me. It's from a Volkswagen used car dealer so I assume it would all be above board as they're meant to only sell top end used cars and have them all checked thoroughly.

Is this a good idea or should I wait until they have a similar car closer to where I live? Admittedly I don't know much about cars anyway so even if I were to check it, I doubt I'd be able to find anything wrong.

  1. The AA and RAC provide a vehicle checking service for a few quid ring them

  2. well  when dealing with cars yes thats always a bad idea but on the other hand it depends on the situation and who the car is coming from know if it was coming from a private owner you kno just somebody selling a car then nope i would have to see a and check it first but as you stated its coming from a Volkswagen used car dealer so in my opinion  i would have no worries and no problem getting it from them cause i mean come on its a Volkswagen dealer  a  reputable place   im pretty sure they wont try any slick stuff like a small car lot would .

  3. its a very risky decision mate..if its a used car definitly go to look at it because the car might look nice in a photo but the engine might be rubbish then..

  4. Generally no, but I see your point.  I would buy it because I'd know if it was good or not.  Have someone check it when it arrives.  And pay less, not more.  That's the incentive, pay less than you'd expect.  Good car, so good luck!

  5. Put in your offer for the car by phone and say that your purchase is subject to a satisfactory RAC inspection. Then put the offer as put on the phone into writing. Ask if they can bring the car to you for a demonstration. I think they might as selling cars these days is getting difficult due to the credit crunch.

  6. It IS a bad idea to buy a used VW seen or not!!!

  7. Hi friend,

As you know  that the technology has developed vast and in this century, distance are not the barriers to communication. There are many online shopping stores that delivers the product directly to your residence.I can suggest you a online store which provide this facility-

  8. yes

get a ride or have a mechanic inspect it.

you cannot assume they are honest.

  9. If you like gambling & it's under $50....go for it.

  10. 100 miles is not too far, generally I'd say rather go and look at the car, maybe you find something you don't like on it and you would have saved yourself the hassle of having to deal with it once you bought the car without looking at it.

Also if you do of course find something you don't like on this car have you ever tried to look at the seized car auctions?

    I have a link here, http://www.easycarblog.com/auction.php

There is another eBook which could also save you some money, it is called TopSecretCarSecret, this book can help you get discount on any model which you would want to purchase.

The link to this is: http://www.easycarblog.com/go.php

    Good luck!

    Regards

  11. YES!!!   I bought  my  first  car  rover  200 without checking  first . I had it  for  3 weeks  and  the  engine  blow  up.  ÃƒÂ‚£1800  in the  bin  ,    think  before you try.

  12. tough call...

good luck.  I love my VW.

  13. Most cars in used dealerships have been smashed up and are made up of dodgy spare parts. You seriously wanna check it out first and take someone along with you that knows their stuff about cars. So your not getting a dodgy deal

  14. Ever heard the expression "they saw me coming"? It seems they did, even though you never went :-)

Dodgy, to say the least. I'd try to find somewhere nearer home or drive up and see it. It's not a case of not knowing anything about cars (if they want to hide something they will anyway) but rather whether you like the car when you look at it and sit in it.

  16. 100 miles isn't exactly the end of the earth: I've bought stuff unseen in the past, but I'd go & look if it's that distance away.
