My friend lives in Nebraska, and she wants a hamster that she saw in a Petco store. I hear rumors of Pet Mills, unhealthy breeding conditions and such, but is that where they came from? Also, even if they didn't, is it a bad idea to get a hamster that drove from one state over? Even if the breeders have healthy conditions?

  1. Definitely don't go to Petco. Their hamsters are EVIL.

  2. Most all pet stores use pet mill suppliers.

If the hamster is in a cage, with lots of air, water, and food, it's fine.  They can't make the trip in a box, but they'd be fine with food/water/etc as long as the car wasn't too hot.  A super young hamster may get stressed, though.

  3. dont go to pet co you can find a hamster at a shelter!!!! plz save a life

  4. Yes, Petco and most pet stores buy from breeding mills and backyard breeders.
