  1. well heres the thing. i live in florida and trust me hes not missing anything if its a cruise or disney (overrated its not that great) or universal. however parents are sesponsible for meals, transpotation etc. if you cant afford it then you shouldnt go

  2. my sons save their money they even save pop cans and then cash them in. they split the money and they use it for what they want they enjoy it. The feel like it's their money and they have worked for it. I hope it learns them responsiblity and a few things about the real world and expenses.

  3. Tell him to save his money for the trip.  Start saving your money to pay for it.  When it comes time for the trip, give him some of the money to pay for it, but have him put some of it away for the future (car, college, whatever).  So, if he's saving $800, give him $500 back when it comes time for vacation, but have $300 of that go straight to the bank.

All you people saying that parents must be responsible for their kids trips must be rich parents or spoiled kids.  If the parent has the means, they certainly should pay for these things.  When I was a kid, if I didn't pay to go somewhere, I didn't go.  We'd vacation as a family--my mother couldn't afford to give kids separate vacations.  I also learned that I can't have everything I want, and that if I want something that no one can/will give to me, I can always work to get it myself.

  4. Parents are responsible for childrens' trips. His money is his own to spend, and some to save.

  5. Save a % of it and let him have a small portion to keep him motivated in earning it.

  6. I think that's a good idea cause that teaches him to be independant and earn. Just make sure you give him plenty of applause for it, instead of making it seems like he's on his own totally and you're being real mean lol.

  7. Have him save the money. It'll build character teach him the value of money. He will benifit from it later.

  8. How about he pays half, and you pay half.

  9. Money should be spent on things they want on the trip (souvenirs). Come to plane, accommodation, meals etc, then you should be paying. You cant expect a 10 year old to pay. If you cant afford it, then give less pocket money to the kids

  10. I would let him make the decision - he's old enough.

  11. When I was that age, we went to Disney. My mom had us save our money all year, and then we in turn used that money to buy whatever we wanted in Disney. She paid for the trip, but we paid for souveniers, and anything extra we wanted to do. Such as make a singing video, etc. It was actually quite fun, b/c it was a competition between my brother and sister and I to see who could save their money better. And then it made me see (when my little sis could do more b/c she had more money) that I should have been better about saving.

  12. having him save his money is a good idea. getting him to pay for the trip is not. You are the parent and you should pay for it...he should use his money towards things that he wants like games, toys, souvenirs on the holiday, not the flight and hotel and admission..

if your son can save his allowance for a year, you should be able to put aside 20 bucks a week as well to pay for the trip

  13. If you really can't afford to pay for the whole thing yourself then go halfies. That way he still has quite a bit of money, your not worried financially, and   he learns he has to save. If thats using to much of his money get him to help out with stuff that you can pay him for.

  14. Let him make the choice.
