Question:

Is it a bad idea to take pre-calculus and AP statistics simultaneously?

I've heard so many things. Some say it's difficult to take AP stats without taking pre-cal first. Some say stats and pre-cal are completely different subjects so it does not really matter if you take one subject first, one later, or simultaneously. Some say you're doomed if you're taking two math classes at once.

So, for those who have taken both subjects--what's your opinion?

By the way, I'm taking a regular (college prep) pre-cal class.

  1. i think it'll be fine..it all depends on how much you study

its like taking 2 sciences at one time , this year, im a senior and ill be taking AP chemistry and regular physics.

  2. I did this same thing in junior year. I actually felt they made the other easier. I would learn things in Stats and apply it in pre-calc and vice versa. I actually found it very helpful to take both at the same time because the material gets reviewed constantly in both classes and it's always fresh. I think this is why I did so well in these classes. I HIGHLY recommend doing this!

  3. This isn't a bad idea at all...I did the same thing :D!

AP Stat and Pre-Calc are extremely different and I didn't have any trouble taking the two simultaneously.  I took Adv Pre-Calc Honors and AP Stat and really enjoyed both classes!  I hope you enjoy them just as much!

    Good Luck

  4. You can take both of those at the same time.  if you wanted to take AP Calc. and Pre-Calc. at the same time, then I would have a problem with that.
