Is it a bad idea to visit Istiklal Caddesi around the evening? ?

Are most of the shops still open? Is there still a lot to see and is this a good place to have dinner? Thanks for your input :).

No. Definately it's a good idea to visit istiklal street. Most of the stores are opne and it is quite safe. You see people hanging until morning.

It's an evening sort of place! Lots of bars and restaurants, particularly at the "Tunel" end. It's really buzzing. Be aware of some scams in that neighbourhood though, some tourists have been fleeced (or worse). I was there in April, had a great time and never felt under any threat. Be as careful as you would be in any other big city such as Paris, Rome, London, New York etc.

yes of course everywhere is open until 10-11. bars and pubs open until 3 - 4 am
