Right now i am going to be a sophmore in highschool, and i do not have any honors classes. I am taking bio and chem this year, but it is not honors. And I want to be a vet, so I was wondering, will not being in honors ruin my plans?

(I tried to enter into honors english and history, but I did not get accepted.)

  1. No.  If you're not ready for honors and AP classes as a sophomore, do not worry.  Just concentrate on learning as much as you can and maintaining a solid GPA in the courses in which you are enrolled.  Next year, if you are comfortable, you can take honors courses.

Also, talk to your college guidance counselor about the possibility of taking college level classes during the summer at community college.  The cost per unit at community college is cheaper than 4-year universities (private and public).

Concentrate on doing the best you can and learning as much as possible from your teachers.  Diligence always pays off, no matter what the level of the class is.

    Good Luck!

  2. It's fine. Just pull straight "A's" and you could make it into a lot of schools. After this year try getting into AP classes instead and get college units for that.

  3. No, not bad.  You can still be a vet without being in honors class.  You are more likely to get scholarships if you are in honors, but you can get scholarships without being in honors classes.  Work hard and do the best you can.  That is all you can do.

  4. don't worry! u still have a nother year to try. basically, honors is just a class for people to do extra work and stuff, not meaning that ur gifted, so ur fine. AS LONG as u r doing well in ur current academic subjects. gah, its sucks not getting accepted, dont worry, just keep trying and u'll eventually make it! i tried the 2nd time and i ended up in 3 honors classes out of 4! just keep trying, and hey, u dont need to b an honors student to b a vet. i no SOOO many ppl who dont do honors that want to b a vet. its not a bad thing, as long as u dont flunk in ur academic courses at the moment. hope that helps :] keep trying and even if u dont succeed, u will no that u tried ur hardest. its not gonna ruin ur plans

  5. no,definetly not

just do your best in regular classes and you'll be fine

  6. Did you think it's a bad thing?...really

  7. No, its not a bad thing.. Just know that you are smart and going to do fine in regular classes..

  8. oh my. if you were not accepted into silly honors classes on a simple high school level, what makes you think you can go to a med school for animals?  think about that sugar.

also, honors classes are important to certain schools. pick the college you want to attend(be rejected from), and ask them what they find acceptable so that you can strive to fulfill their needs/wants.

  9. It doesn't mean you're not smart, it just means you haven't blossomed yet and found the things you're good at.

  10. work harder to be in it..

it will not riun your plans but it is always good to be in honors

  11. no im a senior this year and i never took any honors. Youre fine :) Just do really well in the normal classes.

  12. no. there is a difference between honors and AP. if AP is available, it can only help your GPA. honors however, will not help your GPA.

for example, if you get a B in AP, then that's equal to an A (4.0). if you get a B in honors then its just a normal B.

    hope this helpss :)

  13. no u just need to  study harder ! duh!!!!

  14. No it will not, it doesn't take honors to get a degree in college. As long as you get a degree at a good college people will gladly accept you as a veteranerian.

  15. ceps12, you are a butt.

It's fine, really-- try to get into a few honors/AP/dual credit courses in your junior year, in your strengths. If you're good at English, try that one, ect. Being a Vet will require grad school, and they don't care at all about your high school career (just your college one-- and believe me, college is nothing like high school, you'll be fine). As far as undergraduate admissions goes, just make sure your grades are high-- keep those As up there, and try to bring your B up. If there's a way to raise your class rank, I would defiantly take steps to do that. Your high school counselor is a great resource, who will be able to help you with whatever college you want to get into (far more than the people on here).

Don't let people fool you or loop you into common misconceptions: You don't HAVE to be in AP. You don't HAVE to be in dual-credit. You don't HAVE to be perfect, or in honors, or anything. Being a vet is a goal, but there are lots of paths to take to get there. The brutally academic one is the most conventional, and may well be the easiest, but it is not the only one. Volunteer or work at a clinic (both grad schools and undergrad colleges will look at this), do as well as you can in school, and talk with your counselor. And don't let anyone deter you from you're dreams. You can do it, hon!

  16. Not being in honors classes will not ruin your plans, although it may make them harder to achieve. Are you able to be in honors science classes, but you chose not to? If that's the case, you should consider moving up to honors. It will be harder, but it will also make you more ready for college and your vet plans. If you didn't get accepted into honors in science, then do the best that you can in regulars and no one can ask for more. Good luck!

  17. It's not a big deal. I couldn't take high school honors classes either. Enter senior year, I was able to take 3 dual credits.

Also, when I set up my schedule for my freshman year in college, my adviser had me take an Honors English course and skip College Algebra (which I chose not to take in high school).

You'll be fine. Good luck in the future!

  18. no..nothing bad.I had honors English in high school because that was my greatest strength..my older brother failed English even though he spoke English!!! but he was in Calculus AP because his love for math. people have weakness and strengths in school.no big deal

  19. it doesnt mean your not smart.

its just that maybe your grades werent too high

and you couldnt get in it will be better if they were honors.

try this year for a's and b's  and next year they will give you honors also as soon as school starts go speak to the counselor

and thell them that you want to get honors

    BE CONSISTENT

i have AP and all middle school i was honors.
