Is it a bad thing to drink a lot of coffee?

Right now I am trying to quite smoking and someone suggested to me to find something else to replace the need for a cigarette, like coffee.

I am trying that to see if it will help.

  1. Yes, any amount of caffeine is harmful to the brain cells and the risk is higher for Alzheimer's and other illnesses. Coffee is hard to break away from. Why leave one habit to go to another? Find something else to occupy your mind, like walking, chewing gum, or reading a book. I am a coffee lover.Stayed off of it for two years, then started back one cup at at time. Planning tomorrow, tomorrow, to stop again. Drink lots of water instead. However, I drink decaffeinated Coffee, which is like just a little poison.


  2. I cant say coffee is bad for you. I drink about 12 cups in the morning before even going out to work. If it is cold out I will take coffee with me. and Drink it all day. Some people can handle it better than others. Start out slow and see what happens

  4. Not really a great idea. You really would not be breaking the habit much at all. It would be more like you are just replacing that habit with something else. You simply can't beat a bad habit by replacing it with something else.

    Now drinking a lot of coffee won't be good. This is especially true if you like to put sugar in it. Too much sugar and caffeine will have bad effects on you too. Besides those bad effects it will also increase your calories taken in and cause you to gain weight. Since smoking decreases appitite it is better to be more careful now about what you eat and drink so you don't gain a bunch of weight.

    Now problems taht can arise from too much sugar and caffeine can be dehydration, headache, muscle ache, sleeplessness, jittery or feeling on edge, kidney problems, diabetes, and more problems with skin and organs as a result of the extra sugar and caffeine and the combined effects of being dehydrated.

    If you prefer to replace smoking with something else then try replacing it with several things. Like if you normally smoke after a meal then replace it with one thing. If you normally smoke due to stress then replace it with something else. If you smoke at other times for other reasons then replace each instance with even something else all together different. I would make one of them some form of exercise. It will help with concerns of weight gain and of stress.

  5. The bad thing about drinking a lot of coffee is: it is very hard to quit.  I drink at least 10 cups a day, and I got a big headache if I miss it for more than 10 hours.  But I still like it a lot.

I recently read that 6 cups of coffee or more a day helps speed up your metabolism and therefore makes you lose weight...of course, intaking this much coffee is just ridiculous. coffee is bad for your skin, but i don't think there's any major health issues. definitely nothing in comparison to that from smoking.

  7. drinking a lot of coffee is a bad thing but more healthy than smoking , coffee has some health problems like cellulite, lack of iron and so on.

  8. How about you just quit smoking and coffee and just start working out at the gym or something.

  9. eat pez candy. it was meant to stop smoking. it was invented for that reason.

    In any case it's acidic and can give you burning sensations in your stomach all the way up to your throat. It's h**l... I have that LoL.
