Is it a cavity?

there is this oe blackish spot on one my molar. it is on the same tooth on both sides of my mouth. It has been there for a while and has stayed the same. i havent gone in for a check up for a while. Do u think that it is a cavity. it doesnt really look like a hole.

old tooth filling. made out of silver...nothing to worry about

Not necessarily.  There may just be some stain, which is not always decay and does not always need to be addressed/filled.  Also, you'd be surprised, but many people mistake old silver fillings (which may look black over time) for holes or cavities.

If it has looked the same over several years, you may be ok, but if you haven't been to the dentist in awhile, you should get it checked out.  Sometimes tiny little holes on the top of teeth have very extensive decay underneath.
