Is it a foregone conculsion that Geelong will be the 2008 premiers?

Question

I am not a Geelong fan but can't seriously see anyone coming close to them (I hope I am wrong).

Should non-Geelong supporters just make other plans for that last weekend in September now so that we dont spend it bored out of our brain watching a repeat of last years flogging?

Last years grandfinal was seriously one of the most boring ever. I think it would be more entertaining watching grass grow or paint dry!

Even when Geelong lose a grandfinal ('89, '92, '94) it's a boring game. Why is this?

Geelong still have to play the WCE at Skilled Stadium. The WCE have nothing to gain from a clean game of football, their season, and possibly their decade, is ruined. I would not be surprised if they play the man, not the ball, vs Geelong - and two or three Geelong players go down.

Geelong are a team which is disciplined and even, but I cannot see them being a guaranteed premier if Ablett. Ling, Bartel, Scarlett, Harley are injured.

If I am wrong, then Geelong are the best bet since Phar Lap. In Australia, of course!

I think it is. Geelong are a dominant all-round footy team. They work hard for each other and do everything right, this will result in Geelong wining the grand final. GO CATS!!!

I agree with you. It is very hard for me to find a game of footy boring, but last year was such an anti-climax! We all know that Geelong will smash whoever they play in the Grand Final - I hope it's not my team, I hate losing in Grand Finals! I will certainly watch the game, but I'm hoping it provides more entertainment than last year, and someone really challenges the Cats.

If Collingwood can win all the finals then we might have a chance at taking the cup but we need to beat all the other teams first. if the Pies can get to the GF hopefully its like last years prelim final (but of course collingwood winning it)

The way I see it is that the only team with any chance of knocking Geelong off is hawthorn - and I'd hate to see that mob of posers win it!

I havent found any game of afl boring this season they have all been filled with excitement! especially watching the geelong games, its so good to see all their players in hot form kicking lots of goals and winning most of the time - but last year in the grand final midway through the third quater i got so bored of them kicking goal after goal after goal so i turned off the tv and resumed watching midway through the last quater, where the continued their rally of goals.

i think us afl lovers all love a real cracker where there actually is a game being played - not just a one sided affair. this is why the 2006 grand final attracted so many people watching it, because it was one point that the mighty eagles won by, it was great that geelong won by 115 (i think or around there) or so points, but i  mean the west coast sydney 05 & 06 games were determined by less then 5 points which makes them so much more nerve racking exciting and fun to sit down and watch.

and this is why we dnt wanna see another flogging by geelong of the team that makes the grand final.

Definately. When Geelong are out on the park it is like they have their own footy! With the likes of Bartel and Ablett in the centre, Scarlett and Harley in defence and Chapman ann Stevie Johnson up forward, absoloutely no-one will come close.
