Is it a fraud part II. (Specially for UNCLE JED)

O hello! Thanks a lot for your answer Uncle JED! Since I wouldn't want to let go of this opportunity unless I m sure it is a fraud, I have some other questions.

The process he described was like the process in www.escrow.com. And in this wesbite: http://escrow-fraud.com/legit-escrow.php , escrow.com is listed as legit site. So he could be telling the truth.

One thing I noticd from the legit escrow website (https://escrow.com/index.asp) was that on the right hand corner below in the subheading Fraud Information Guide section, last point said that escrow uses no agents. I want to know if it contradicts his words when he said :

"If you want to use the escrow service provided by ebay , the payment must be made in advance in the ebay agent account , where the money will be kept until the car is with you."

P.S. The fraud sites to prevent fraud that you told me about were vvery helpful. I did not mark your answer yet as a best answer because I am waiting if someone else will also answer it and see his/her opinion!

  1. This is scam. You will receive emails from the seller that appear to be from someone else (eBay motors) telling you that they have the car and that you should send the money. Most likely, you will be told to send the money by Western Union. As soon as you send the money, it will all be over.

Yes, escrow.com is a legitimate escrow site. If you do decide to use it, follow escrow.com's warnings. Always log in by typing in 'escrow.com' yourself, do not ever use a link to get to it. Do not transfer any money or goods except as specifically directed by that site. Do not ever do what an email tells you to do. Ever.

If it sounds to good to be true, it almost certainly is. There is no "ebay agent account". Ask him to point you to a web page on the eBay motors site that describes this process. I'll bet you he can't do it.

Note that with escrow.com, as with pretty much all legitimate escrow sites, the buyer takes quite a bit of risk. If the seller has no intention of delivering the goods, it's your money that will be tied up in escrow for the few weeks it will take to sort it out. You will also be out the escrow fee.

  2. I agree with Jed - this is most likely a scam.

Ebay does NOT provide an escrow service. It does "approve" of www.escrow.com, and they also list some approved escrow services for international deals.

    See this link:

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/payment-es...

My guess is they aren't planning on using them, if they were they probably would have mentioned them by name. Also - beware of spoofing (where the link looks like it's for one url, but it is really another).

There's an old saying - "if something looks too good to be true, it probably is". Why would they sell you a nearly new car way under the retail value for it?

    My advice - keep looking

  3. Ebay doesnt provide escrow service. They have no Ebay agent accounts. Ebay is just a electronic newspaper. Does your  local newspaper handle car sales? NO they just advertise them. He is selling you a car way blow market value Why....He can take it to the dealer and get more for it with less hassle. Also he doesnt even own the car.He has got that info off of another ad or car.He is phishing for your info to use. Also he want you to send money to Ebay to pay.Ebay in no way accepts payment holds it or distributes it. What you are being told about that is FALSE. Also all emails you recieve will look like they came from Ebay but he is making them look this way. If you send your money it is lost for ever as there is nothing no one can do to get it back. Believe me its a SCAM.I have tried to warn you so you wont proceed as thats all I can do. Take the info as do as you wish........I will not reply to this anymore........ujn
