Is it a freeball?

8-balls pool. if you shoot ur ball(e.g solid) but end up pocketing the other ball(e.g stripe) is it a freeball?

  1. As long as you contact a ball from your group first, then it is a legal shot and whatever gets pocketed stays down, regardless of whether it's a stripe or solid (except, of course, the 8-ball).  It is not a foul, so your opponent will have to play the cue ball in position.  Nothing gets respotted.  The only time a ball gets respotted in 8-ball is when the 8-ball is pocketed on the break shot.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.


  2. no, that is not a freeball. Since you hit the type of balls(solid) first.

  3. yes, it is a scratch and the other player gets a free shot from where the white ball lies......the stripe stays down.
