Is it a genetic factor that albinos are partially blind?

Why is it that albinos are partially blind i mean like they don't see very well.I know the question sounds like a stereotype but i investigated some of my albino friends and realized that @ school they have ti sit as close as 1 meter to the blackboard so that they can really see whats written.

  1. The primary issue is the lack of melanin resulting in an underdeveloped RPE. This leads to foveal hypoplasia, or a less-developed fovea, the center of one's retina.

    Albinistic people are also more prone to a host of visual problems- nystagmus, myopia, astigmatism, extreme photophobia, optic hypoplasia.. the list goes on and on.
