The guy told me that everything that could break on a mustang broke already, and it has all been repaired/ replaced, but a professional mechanic. He said his mom is driving it right now, because he hasnt come back from college yet. It does seem like a good deal, Im 17, so i've never bought a car for myself, my parents bought me my first car for like 800 bucks, and its an 89 honda accord with 180 k miles on it. So this car looks like a steal. Thanks!

  1. V6 Mustangs prior to 2005 are ALWAYS a bad idea.

    Low on power

Fuel economy barely better than the V8 (all out of proportion to the drastic drop in power)

    Drastically reduced reliability.

Also, the Mustang is a car built to a price.  Its purpose is to be ...if not THE cheapest, one of the cheapest V8 cars in the world.  They assume the engine, and everything else is compromised to make sure they can have the engine at the desired price.  This has been true for 30 years.

You DO NOT buy a Mustang unless you get the engine that is the entire reason for the Mustang to exist.  Now, that is the V8.  The only time it was ever anything else was when they had the 4 cyl turbo SVO.

If you buy a 6 cylinder Mustang, you're going to be on here asking about how to make your V6 Mustang faster...and the answer to that is "buy a V8."

Oh, and you're 17.  You probably don't have the experience to be able to handle a lot of power and torque in a car that isn't designed to handle particularly well.  And good luck paying for insurance.

Keep your Accord a couple more years or until it dies, then get a V8 Mustang.

  2. a v6?  Bro, that's a disgrace, that's not even a mustang. Don't get that junk.  You'll be unhappy, trust me, because the amount of money you'll put will bleed your pockets.  I give that car about 14 months and you'll start to have some trouble, that's not counting the minor ones you'll have on the way. . And if a lot of things broke on it, definitely dont get it.  FORD - Found On Road Dead.

If the car is well maintained WITH records and proof of timing belt replaced then I would consider if you really want the car.

But if work was done on the engine or tranny DONT get it.

My car when I was 17 was a 1992 accord. Best car I ever owned and so easy to maintain.

  3. You no what I hate more then anything, is when people put down something that others may enjoy.  By all means if you like the car, (providing its intact and not a deathtrap lol) then get it.  There are many small things you can do to the car to make it your own.  V6 so what, with gas prices, you will be laughing at the V8's, they may pass you, then you can wink at them while you blow by the gas station.  If you like it get it,,,,you can always upgrade to a different car later....

  4. It sounds like a good car, at a good deal, but you aren't ripping the guy off.

You just found the right car at the right price.

If you like it and you have had it inspected, then go for it.
