  1. Yes, it is a great idea to adopt a rabbit of the SPCA.  The animals are typically spayed or neutered, may already be house trained, and have had a physical exam from a veterinarian.

However, whether you should adopt one for small children depends.  Rabbits aren't great pets for small children.  They tend to prefer quiet, slower situations.

If you want a rabbit primarily for yourself and will closely supervise your children - reminding them that loud noises scare rabbits - by all means adopt one!

I adopted a rabbit from the SPCA this past spring.  We tried to pick out a very out going and friendly rabbit that wouldn't be so frightened of our daughter.  I still supervise very carefully and try to remind her to be quiet.  Overall though, it's gone very well.

    Enjoy!

  2. Yes but you need to teach the kids to be gentle and supervise. Kids usually want to carry the rabbits around and the rabbits do not like that.

    Please read http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/child...

  3. Yes I am sure that would be great! If not I am a rabbit breeder not to far from there and would be happy to provide you with rabbits. Our website is www.freewebs.com/kcrabbitry1/

  4. I'm not a fan of children having bunnies since I had one when I was about 10-12 and never understood why it was so skittery.  Bunnies don't like to be picked up and will not tolerate kids as much as a cat or a dog might, but kids don't get the difference.  If you think your kids will be able to listen to you and not pick up the bunny (apart from the necessary getting out of cage etc.) and let it run round without chasing it then it might be ok.  I have a bunny (now I'm 23) who is a really good pet, and because she trusts me she will sit next to me on the couch to be petted and sometimes follows me round.  She is also very tolerant to being picked up because I let her go whenever she wants me to.  If you do decide to get one the SPCA may not be the best choice as the bunny could have had bad experiences which will make it even harder for it to trust you, but I suppose it's worth a look.

  5. Do you children know how to handle an animal? If they do then yes. I live not far away and i would recommend getting one from their. That way you are giving it a second chance at life
