Is it a good idea to buy furniture online?

I live in the virgin islands, and do not much furniture selection here, and I need to buy some furniture urgently, is it ok to purchase from the net, or does anyone know of furniture place online that would ship to the US Virgin Islands as most furniture sites that I have been to do not ship direct, which means that I will hve to arrange shipping from where they will deliver. Any ideas
