  1. guinea pigs are very good pets and its great that ur rescuing one!

  2. Definitely a good idea. Just because they're in a rescue, doesn't mean they have any behavioral/health problems. Many are placed in rescues just because the owners ''got bored of them'' or there was an accidental litter.

When you go to a rescue, meet & greet the guinea pigs, and the volunteers/employees will be able to tell you information on each of them.

Most rescues will recommend adopting in pairs, unless you already have a guinea pig at home for a companion.

  3. I love guinea pigs! I think u should!

I just got my guinea pigs last year and they changed my life (for the better)!

  4. i think if your going to rescue any animal your doing something really good, yes rescue animals can have issues depending on their background, but with enough patience and love you can beat any problems they may have

  5. That's great if you're gonna get a rescue guinea pig. You're saving a life! It's way better than buying one from the pet store! Shelter piggies are the best.

  6. It is definetely much better to rescue a guinea pig instead of buying one. The rescue guineas are often healthier than pet shop pigs. Guineas from a sheltler are usually cheaper, too. Plus you're saving a life! Good 4 U!!!!!

  7. Guinea pigs from shelters or rescues are not problematic like some dogs or cats. They are usually dumped there because the owner wasn't interested in it anymore, the kids got tired of cleaning the cage or playing with it, or the former owners had too many litters from keeping a boar and sow together and not enough homes for the babies.

A reputable guinea pig rescue will have already screened the pigs for illness and/or parasites, so you know you are getting a healthy animal. However, guinea pigs are supposed to be kept in pairs, so don't be surprised if they require you to adopt a pair. Really, in the best interest of the piggie, you would WANT to do that to make sure it is happy.

Kudos to you for considering adoption!! :)
