Is it a good idea to put fried rice in my compost pile?

  1. Actually, the grease from the rice can attract critters.  I wouldn't do it.  Here's Wiki link that should help you out.

  2. Why not? The idea is that you put biodegradable materials inside a compost and fried rice is a biodegradable material

  3. If there is no meat in it, it is okay.  

    Most people avoid meat and meat by-products because of the smell and the tendencies to attract flies which do nothing to help the compost process.

  4. This one time it's fine, providing it's a small amount.  Generally you want to avoid anything with oil or grease as well as a protein...like meat, eggs, etc.  The oil goes rancid, not healthy and the protein attracts critters as well as putrifying.
