O.K. so i have a photobucket [who doesn't?] , but my question is: Is it better to store your pictures online or on your computer? I thought in case of a disaster, fire or something, that idea might come in handy, but what about privacy, efficiency, quality, and space? If you think it's a good idea let me know. If you do it, let me know. Suggestions for places to store my photos will also be nice! Thanks!

  1. DO save them online as well as burn disks often. I have a flickr account and I can save my pictures as private or public..either way, it has saved my pics through a few crashes and I was thankful that they were out there.

  2. Our hard drive crashed and we were thankful that we had images saved on line and in an external drive. CD's are also a good idea.

Flicker, dotphoto and kodakgallery are places I have stored images.

  3. Burn them to a disk (dvd/cd) it's by far you best archival option.

Frankly I would (am) very cautios as to what of my work I post on the web. There is NO way to protect against theft, or loss should your server/host be attacked or crashed. Disks are dirt cheap, use em' up and when a new, better storage format comes out, they can be recycled.

    Best of Luck !!!

  4. Photobucket is good as long as their server doesn't crash. Then what ?

Burn them on a CD. Much safer and whatever happens, you still have them.
