Is it a good idea to travel to Punta Cana in September?

Just wondering since people are telling me that this is hurricane season. Just wondering if anyone has travelled there this time of year??

  1. September is the worst month for tropical storms. If you do travel during hurricane season always be prepared and purchase travel insurance that covers weather. In the long run it will save you $$ if you can't fly to your destination.

    Weather is unpredictable. No one knows if a tropical storm will hit a certain part of an island. I can tell you from experience that one year we were traveling to the DR in October and a tropical storm prevented us from travel, we just re-booked and we were glad we had insurance. No loss of $$.

    If you can, good idea to pick another month)

  3. Puerto Plata is more secure than Punta Cana! In 115 years 3 hurricanes hit Puerto Plata (one every 38 years) so.... think about it!
