Is it a law that u have to receive a paycheck stub

Question

is it a law that u have to receive a paycheck stub? my employer has fallen on hard time and in the past we have had a payroll company do all of that for us. but for the last 6months they have hand writen us a check. no stub nothing. i am just concerned that at the end of the year,,,the so called money that was taken out for taxes was put it someones pockets
