rite ok here's the situation. i want to buy a new mountain bike. so i saved up my money and got a job for the summer. i now have enough money to buy the bike. now my mum has known i've been wanting to get this bike for the past month but only now(the day before i go to buy it) she starts saying things like "are you sure its rite for you", "who recommended it to u". all this kinda stuff.

2 of my best friends recommended it to me and their experienced with bikes and they both even worked in the shop that i want to buy it in.

now my mum has had over a month to go up with me to see the bike and ask if its ok and all of the rest of her questions but she picks now to ask them. what the h**l is with that?? is it a mothers job to be a pain in the rear or am i just bein un reasonable?

  1. As a mom myself, my first instinct was to defend your mother. But, in my opinion if you worked hard to earn the money for the bike then you should buy the bike. You should be able to spend your money on what you want to spend it on. Except drugs. Drugs are bad.

  2. I think  your mom is just worried that you might be getting sticked.  If you feel that it's a good bike and you saved up YOUR money for it, she should butt out a bit and let you have the control of the choice.  Just say, "Mom, I understand you're trying to teach me right from wrong and that you're just wanting to protect me, but I have researched this and this is the bike that I would like to spend the money that I saved up on."  A mature sentence that can't really make her argue.

  3. A your being unreasonable

B moms are just over protective

C yes in some ways our mothers do seem to make our lives misrable but in the long run its a good thing.... trust me

  4. she's your mother you shouldn't talk about her like that she gave birth to you! Its called Respect! she is just concerned that is her job. She knows you saved up that money & probably wants to make sure thats really what you want & she may be a little worried. I don't know why she should be but im a mom & worry over stuff that i shouldn't.

  5. She probably didn't think you would save the money and didn't want to entertain you until she new for sure that you had the money.

She is also asking all the questions you should be asking yourself to make sure you spend your money wisely.

Yes, momsare supposed to be pains in the rear. What else is there to do with your day.

  6. yes it is and we don't paid to it. we are protective and worry and we love our kids and don't want them hurt. Take your mom to the bike shop so she can ask her questions to the manager. the money you earned will still be there waiting to be spent. Don't throw a tantrum because that shows your mom you are immature and don't deserve the bike. Make her comfortable with the idea then you can get it.

  7. if its an expensive bike she probably just doesn't want you to waste your money.

and as a mom, and a former teenager, yes, its mom's job to be a pain.

  8. NO its a mothers job to make you evaluate what you are purchasing to make you think about it and make sure it is actually a good purchase. It is  a moms job to be a friend at times but to be a parent hence pain in the rump at others. You may not see the logic right now, but will someday. Good luck

  9. YES! lol When you have kids you will see.
