  1. it really depends what year is your board made in, because i believe that boards that made from 2006 and up, they already pre wax from the manufacture, so you don't need too.  but if ur new board has not been wax on it, you definitely NEED too. you don't want the base of your board get all messed up because of the condition of snow on the mountain, there could be ice up there or dirt that could messed up your board bad. plus it's need to wax your board anyways, you will ride smoother, believe me you would feel a big different from none wax snowboard and waxed snowboard.

you can wax your own board very easily, i waxed my own board first time this year, and it was very easy, and i did a nicely done job on it too. by follow this snowboard waxing video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDRoKCAFt...

and when you wax your board, DO IT OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE, it's freaking messy when you scrapping the wax out.

  2. It is definitely a good thing to do, but it isn't a must.  Also, sometimes they come already waxed and ready to go.  My Burton Elite did, and I believe most Burton's do.  Just check the info that comes with your board.

  3. i say definitely. You wax it so it rides well. You should do it to take care of your board. You don't have to do it very often. If it's new then not for a while. make sure you don't leve it on concrete/sement because it will attract water and soon your board will rust. You should also get it filed once in a while.

  4. Not a MUST persay. But its definitely a positive. If You don't you'll barely go anywhere and have little to no speed, also everything will seem really choppy even though its not. If I were you, I would wax it.
