Last winter I PRd at 44.5 and that was the last meet of the year and I PRd on every 300 I ran all winter, so I never peaked. I ran a full season of outdoor track and ran 7 400's and 4 200's if I do approximatly 30 workouts over the summer and do conditioning over the fall would it be a reasonable goal to cut 2.5 seconds off my 300 times to get a 42.0 and qualify for states???

  1. It is, but it is going to take dedication

  2. only 30 workouts? thats only about a month of training.

    practice every single day.

if you want to be the best runner out there then you have to practice like one.

  3. well look at what you get on a 100m.  Multiply it by 3 and add 5 seconds for fatigue, if you expect it.  improving your time is somewhat mental as well.  You always need to think to push yourself harder and faster.

  4. I ran the 300H in outdoor track and my Freshman year I had a PR of 48 secs, My sophmore year I dropped my PR to a 47.4. Than my Junior year I dropped it to a 46.6. And than my Senior year I dropped it to a 46.2, and I trained 6 days a week. It will be difficult but it won't be impossible. You are going to have to train a lot especailly on your top end speed. meaning you will have to work to build your endurance specifically for the open 300. If I were you I would train for the 400. So once or twice a week go out for a nice easy distance run just to help keep your endurance base and the rest of the week work on your speed. My favorite workout for the 300's was running 300meters than once you hit the finish give it everything you have left for 100 meters than take a 4 minute break and start over again and repeat 7 more times. Running repeat 500s are also good. Resistance training will help you out a lot especially coming out of the blocks. If you can get a hold of a parachute and practice coming out of the blocks with one of them. After doing about 20 repeats coming out of blocks with a parachute and than just come out of the blocks without it you will notice a huge difference. good luck with everything and I hope this helps out.
