Question:

Is it a risk to buy a refurbished iPod from the apple store?

They say that they provide the standard limited 1 year warranty, but I'm concerned about why it had to be refurbished in the first place and if the problem will persist in the future... Anyone have any experiences/insight?

  1. My experience is that, in general, refurbs always end up being more reliable than regular electronics.  Whatever the problem is, they have fixed it and then it's been inspected a second time.

Besides, it has a standard 1 year warranty, worst that happens is you take it back, say "it won't work" and they end up giving you a new unit at a refurb cost.

  2. I had boughten one from apple refurbushed about 2 years ago and its still great

  3. I would say no at this point, but I bought a refurb iPod 20GB the one with a click wheel and B&W screen (it was old 4th gen i think) anyway I had to bring it back a bunch of times but I think that's just because those particular iPods aren't very good, if it's refurbished its been tested and had the problematic parts replaced as well as the exterior so it still looks new. I would go for it save a couple bucks, the only thing is, it doesn't come in a nice box it's just a cardboard box with foam lining.

  4. I bought a ipod touch refurb...works fine...looked like new, comes with all new headphones and **** like that....my "new"/ old ipod broke anyway after a year piece of ****....but im a slave to music and ipod

  5. They will continue to stand behind the unit even to the point of replacing it and giving a loaner if they cant fix your refurbished one!

  6. NEVER buy refurbished iPods they are junk. they are cheaper because people had problems with them so apple tries to fix them, you will have problems up to wazoo. just buy new.
