I think it is! Just because if you are doing a sin on television or play then other people will see the movie or play and they may think it is okay to do the things that you do. In a way weird way you are promoting the sin that you are doing!

Playing is not doing.  It is play acting.  Dress up (a kid's game)  for adults.

Is he acting a role that seems to promote the idea that the character's sinful lifestyle is a good one?

Does his role make people associate him (the person outside the role) with things the Bible condemns? Will his fans imitate the sin, or learn that sin is wrong?

Sin, my friend, is relative.

If you don't feel right in your gut by DOING something, than that is sin, no matter what it is. But if you find that you as a person are comfortable with what you are doing, by listening to your conscience, than God shouldn't have a problem with it. The reason the conscience is there is so we know when what we do is right or wrong. There. There is my unbiased answer. Now for my opinion. There, to me, is no greater purpose than to express emotion as an actor or artist, and that includes portraying life-like characters, even if they are sinners, as we all are. Rules in the Bible are admittedly very loose and unimportant in the grand scheme of things, anyway. In my opinion, and I am very sure of my opinion, there is NOTHING wrong with portraying a sinner, since we are all sinners anyway. Just be careful that you aren't asked as an actor to do something that makes you feel very uncomfortable, such as having s*x, if you consider that a sin...Hope this helped

What kind of sin?  If it's a minor sin, such as lying or cheating, no. (What is acting but a series of lies?)  If it's a major sin, such as murder or robbery, it depends on whether someone is actually killed or deprived of property.
