Yes, Focus on the Family really did post a call to "pray for rain" to ruin Obama's speech.

And does this change your mind about Focus on the Family? Or would pretty much nothing do that?

  1. Wow, why do all of these people seem to hate you?  Better yet, why continue to say "didn't happen" when the link is right there?  God loves you anyway, but you are getting on my nerves.

Yes, it did change my mind, and as far as I am concerned Focus on the Family is a hate organization, directly opposite of the teachings of the Lord they claim to serve.  Jesus said to love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.  Their Jesus is OK with praying for something bad to happen to another Christian because you don't like his political views.  Had a Muslim scholar posted the video in question, they would be using it today as proof that Islam is a religion of hate.

My religion does not encourage me to seek bad things for other people.  Enough said.

  2. That's just plain silly.  The Bible says a fool answers a matter without hearing it all.  How can you make a decision with the details?

  3. LIAR

  4. Yes, but sometimes we know they were lying too.  However many times people who call people liars tend to lie themselves.  My DIL is this way.

  5. I always pray for rain, whats wrong with that...

  6. Thank you for using excellent grammar.

  7. Yes! your being presumptuous and judgmental. No diff if someone said you cheated at something, but u didn't, and they continued to lie on u anyway. It would hurt, so don't hurt someone else; may comeback to haunt u.

  8. just answer me this... why IS it when something picky happens, the news media chooses to blast it all over oblivion so every tom d**k and harry can reference it out of context anyway?

    :D

  9. My guess is one of the extremists got caught in a lie on here, and to "balance" it out, he decided to attack someone - anyone - of a different outlook...

...a shame really...now they look even slimier, don't they?

EDIT:  Some of the "Christian" answers on this question is pretty depictive of the respect some have for researching:

  10. It says:

COLORADO SPRINGS – A video producer for Focus on the Family is asking people to pray for rain when Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois) makes his speech at the end of the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Sooooo.  ONE video producer who works for FotF, by his own admission, JOKINGLY said that.

But the ORGANIZATION did not say that nor have you provided any EVIDENCE that they did.

So ok,  I take back that you're a liar since that hurt your feelings -- but you are definitely intellectually dishonest -- your citation does not back up your outrageous claim.

  11. well since one of the commandments says not to bear false witness against thy neighbor (do not tell lies about them)  then my guess would be yes this could be a sin.  because you are making false accusations against someone or least you could be because you are not even sure.

sin or not do not be quick on calling some one a liar, check it out.  and there is a difference between lying and mistaken.

  12. Oh, what a good Christian--NOT!!  I'd say it's a sin since one is not supposed to bear false witness.

  13. I don't really care.

    ...did it rain?

  14. Um... when I was a really small kid.. maybe age 7, my mom used to put on his radio show at night.. and I would fall asleep. ROFL She was way clever.

  15. No...it's a very small-minded outlook so it should fit in with the Christian ethos perfectly...

  16. "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor."

  17. YES IT IS. i hate when ppl do that, your no better than that person if they really did lie.

  18. I think it's just so far out there.

But FoTF is headed by a guy who's admitted to beating his dog with a leather belt. I guess if adherents cross-checked the leaders, they'd have to think less of the organization.

(He really did, people. He tells us all about it in "The Strong-Willed Child." Who, of course, deserves spankings.)

  19. Christians call this false bearing!  A lie is a lie.........

It probably didn't rain - I am Metis and I know a good rain dance but sure as h**l would never share it with those dolts!

  20. Im not reading your question, because its a lie, you liar.

  21. Obviously. What a waste of 5 points.

  22. Yes they did. It was intended as a joke, it was taken as a joke, it was removed from their site because of calamatists like yourself. Dr. Dobson said as much on the news last night.

  23. Yes, that would be a sin. I would rarely call a person a liar even if I knew they were not telling the truth because there are many other ways to say the same thing without being overtly rude. I read the article and it was said by a person who admitted to having made the remark "half jokingly," whatever that is supposed to mean. I am not willing to condemn a whole ministry over one thing said by one person. I honestly have not listened to Focus on the Family enough to support the ministry or completely write them off as unreasonable.

I am still an undecided voter, and I want to hear what both candidates have to say between now and November. I hear very thoughtless and ignorant things said on this site every time I log on, but it has not caused me to write off the site completely. Surely a little rain would not have dampened the enthusiasm of the Obama supporters!
