Is it a sin to harm your body?

Meaning smoking, being overweight, not going to get check-ups with MD, etc. What about things as minor as not flossing, not wearing sunscreen, not wearing a seat belt? Also, isn't getting your hair dyed, wearing make-up, nail-polish, wearing the latest style of clothes, etc. vanity? Isn't that a sin? Pride? But it isn't one of the ten commandments.

  1. Many will say "your body is a temple" but that refered to sexual sin.

  2. i think its a sin or bad or morally wrong to do anything to your body that is not natural.

    thus, piercing or tattoos.

it is natural for some people to be different sizes so i don't think its a sin if someone is overweight but moribidly obese maybe.

God did not invent sunscreen, floss, or seat belts, so no that would not be a sin to not wear it.  infact, perhaps it is a sin/or morally wrong/bad to wear that stuff after all.

  3. You can't be serious.

  4. To act on any harmful thought is a sin.  The human mind is the author of these thoughts.  Not everything is a sin, but normal things crossing the line do become seated in sin.  Don't worry about the small stuff for now, but get understanding, and the air will be clear again.  Pride and ego is food for destruction, because there is only one God.

  5. If one is, I dont see how the others are not.

Personally I think it is all stupid

  6. Yes and no.Minor and temporary are acceptable.Hurting yourself is a sin if that is not minor and the results last.May God Bless You.

  7. No

  8. umm.....i don't believe in sins...but.....it dosen't matter if you do those things (except smoking and going overweight...thats bad for you...not watever god you believe in)......treat yourself the way you want.

  9. yea.. of course. our body or any parts of the body was created for good reason with a good result or interpretation too.

  10. None of those things are a sin.

And don't focus on sin.  Focus on the Savior Jesus, who forgives all sins past, present, and future, as soon as you believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead :)

  11. is ignorance a sin?

  12. Your body is the only one you're gonna get. Take care of it.

  13. What do you think. Common logic should stand to answer some of your points. God give us the body we have. I think He wants us to take proper care of it.  As for make up, floss, etc. Let common sense prevail but in proper manner. If it's the latest fad for women to go topless. Many men might like it but I think God wouldn't think it's a good idea and deal with it accordingly.

  14. It is your mind and heart that control you. Ask yourself why are you doing or not doing those things. Are they evil to you and others? Are they good to you and others? Do they cause your body harm? If yes, then it is wrong to dabble with it. It becomes a seed of sin even if your mind just dwell on it even you have not started doing them.

Smoking? Harmful to body? Yes - it is a sin

Overweight? Cause by craze of junk food? Yes-It is a sin.

Not going for check up? Afraid? Yes? It is a sin

Not flossing? cause harm to your teeth? Lazy? It is a sin

Not wearing sunscreen? does it harm you? No? It is not a sin.

Not wearing a seat belt? against traffic law? defiantly going against your dad's instruction? Yes? It is a sin.

Wearing all the make ups? for vanity? going against the natural you? It is a sin.

Going against 10 commandments? Yes? Sin.

    Hope that helps.

  15. but i like weed cake and **** my doctor

  16. The Lord does wants us to take care of our bodies, but He does not force us. People who does those things you mentioned will still go to Heaven. As long as you know Jesus took care of you on the cross and sure of your salvation, your good.

  17. Yes, I would definately say that it is a sin to harm your body.

Like it says in the scriptures, our body is a temple. We are not to defile that temple.

God has given us these bodies to house our spirits. We are His literal spirit offspring. We should take care of them, because they are a great blessing.

If our bodies weren't important, then why did Christ take His own body up again, never to be parted from it again?

  18. yes we're all sinners :(
