Is this really a sin?

Here's how I see it: If someone robs a bank and goes to court and is told he has to serve 10 years in prison, but someone comes in and offers to serve the 10 years for them, is it a sin to not let that person pay the punishment? Obviously, if that person is rejected, the punishment is still there. But is it really wrong for them to not allow the other person to pay the punishment?

  1. yes.rejecting the lord is sin.

  2. I sure hope not. Sinning is wrong, but it is really fun.

  3. if the offer is refused they will have to serve their time.

the person rejects Jesus paying their sin debt they have to accept the punishment

  4. no i dont care about him

    im Jewish

  5. answer: according to Christians it is.

Personally? Ever wonder why Judaism doesn't believe that a man can take the punishment for another, especially about sin?  Or why G-d changed his mind about human sacrifice, needing a human scapegoat or that the messiah would be divine and need to come back for a "second" coming?

  6. It is called CHOICE.

  7. Yes it's a sin because your choosing to reject GOD as your personal savior and not only that, your disobeying him.

The Bible says that you can't serve two GOD's you either love one and hate the other.... there's no middle boundary.

Some peoples god's are their jobs, boyfriends, money....pretty much, whatever they put before GOD.

Jesus can't be compared to human logic.

  8. No, it's not a sin.  Sin doesn't exist.  There is only relative right and relative wrong, and nearly every action is both right and wrong if you look at it from varying perspectives.

Except in this case.  Jesus isn't real, so absolutely no harm at all can come of your not accepting him.  Unless a fundie beats you up for it.

  9. You are free to do what you want:

"For the wages of sin is death (eternal death in the lake of fire), but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

    Romans 6:23

"Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

    Hebrews 10:28-31

This is the unpardonable sin - to reject God's offer of pardon through the invitation of God's Holy Spirit, and to despise the mercy of God.

Without mercy, nothing remains but wrath - eternal wrath.

  10. its not up to one of us, humans, to take that upon ourselves...jesus did while in his human form, but he was still perfect and superior, he was still god, just in the flesh....in the bible it says that we will pay for our sins even if we are saved...its like karma....so even if you did that, then they'd end up suffering for it one way or another in the end....you shouldn't let that person take the blame for you, because although they're being a martyr, you need to be one and realize that it's your price to pay, not theirs...and yes, it is a sin not to accept jesus christ as your savior

  11.   It is the worst sin! You have to accept Jesus Christ as your savior.

    John 4:24

  12. No such thing as sin.

  13. To answer your question, it is the absolute unforgivable sin to NOT accept Christ. It is the only sin not forgivable by God! Most Christians are caught up in the legalism of this sin and that sin sends you to h**l, but the one you have mentioned is the only one that will send you to h**l. All others have been forgiven. We will only stand before God to answer for this sin. God wants to know who's on His side, and who is against Him.

It is not a sin if someone offers to pay the punishment. The law says a crime must be punished. However, in this case, it is the judge (Jesus) who is offering to pay the penalty! He passes the sentence, but then shows mercy to the offended by paying for the crime. In this case, being the higher authority cancels it out for being a sin, since the authority makes the choice to pay the debt himself. Since He made the law, He can also pass the sentence and pay for the crime if He chooses to do so.

  14. Atheism

2123 "Many . . . of our contemporaries either do not at all perceive, or explicitly reject, this intimate and vital bond of man to God. Atheism must therefore be regarded as one of the most serious problems of our time."58

2124 The name "atheism" covers many very different phenomena. One common form is the practical materialism which restricts its needs and aspirations to space and time. Atheistic humanism falsely considers man to be "an end to himself, and the sole maker, with supreme control, of his own history."59 Another form of contemporary atheism looks for the liberation of man through economic and social liberation. "It holds that religion, of its very nature, thwarts such emancipation by raising man's hopes in a future life, thus both deceiving him and discouraging him from working for a better form of life on earth."60

2125 Since it rejects or denies the existence of God, atheism is a sin against the virtue of religion.61 The imputability of this offense can be significantly diminished in virtue of the intentions and the circumstances. "Believers can have more than a little to do with the rise of atheism. To the extent that they are careless about their instruction in the faith, or present its teaching falsely, or even fail in their religious, moral, or social life, they must be said to conceal rather than to reveal the true nature of God and of religion."62

2126 Atheism is often based on a false conception of human autonomy, exaggerated to the point of refusing any dependence on God.63 Yet, "to acknowledge God is in no way to oppose the dignity of man, since such dignity is grounded and brought to perfection in God. . . . "64 "For the Church knows full well that her message is in harmony with the most secret desires of the human heart."65

    Agnosticism

2127 Agnosticism assumes a number of forms. In certain cases the agnostic refrains from denying God; instead he postulates the existence of a transcendent being which is incapable of revealing itself, and about which nothing can be said. In other cases, the agnostic makes no judgment about God's existence, declaring it impossible to prove, or even to affirm or deny.

2128 Agnosticism can sometimes include a certain search for God, but it can equally express indifferentism, a flight from the ultimate question of existence, and a sluggish moral conscience. Agnosticism is all too often equivalent to practical atheism.
