Is it a stupid idea to book my honeymoon in Thailand online?

I am planning my honeymoon in Thailand (Koh Samui) for December 09 and am looking at booking a suite online. Do you think there is a big price difference in the online price, compared to the price you would get in person? But then if it is cheaper to book in person I could get there and since December is the busy season everywhere might be booked out and I should have booked online in the first place.

Anyway I'm confused, what should I do?

Depends what you want your Honeymoon to be like.

Are you?well ...it does sound like you want a suite....with a big bed and a nice everything.

What is a great honeymoon?

You'll find something to stay in all categories to stay at various prices when you get there.

If you are a person or shall I say couple that needs everything now and peaches and cream...yes book online.

On the other hand if you are adventurous....fly to Koh Samui without advanced booking and have a ...reeeeeaaly cool trip.

Right now and even in December...Hotel bookings are declining for several reasons. World Economy and the past year and this year because of the "instability" of the Thai Government or shall I say..."news reporting".

Have a great trip...Koh Samui is a great Island no matter what you decide on.

It depends.  Some people say online is cheaper.  Some people say direct booking with hotel is cheaper.  If you want 5-star, find the website of the particular hotel and usually that's cheaper.  There are some hotels who only except online booking through sites as they save on the money hiring reservations staff.  Others may be cheaper if you book online then by calling them.  I suggest you search here and if you find something you like, call them to see if you can get a better deal:

In short, it's not a stupid idea, no.  Especially if you want a nice place but that's not 5-star.

Nope, I think booking through internet is cheaper. But, you may like to call the hotel you've book and confirm it with the person on the other end of the line. I'm not really trusty on e-commerce without human touch.

I book hotel in Geneva online and it's much cheaper than via the seminar organiser.

If you are confused to choose via online or directly to hotel. First, you may check price on the hotels reservation website, then, call to hotels derectly and compare price between these two options.

I am guaranteed that price on internet might be cheaper than.

No, it's not stupid at all, it's stupid if you don't. December is the high tourist season here in Thailand and in places like Koh Samui hotels can be fully booked that time of year. If you want the hotel of your choice you need to book it well in advance for December. Here are some reputable hotel websites that offer great prices on hotels in Thailand and Asia, normally much cheaper than if you book through the hotel:

I agree with Gerald it is busy season so book early, it is your honeymoon so it will be special. try www.asiarooms.com but also try the hotel directly you may get a discount or you may get a special welcome pack since it is your honeymoon.

And more importantly enjoy the wedding and your new hubby.

IMPORTANT, Check various thai hotel websites as the suite price will differ. Keep alook out for promotions.

If you just show up and book when you arrive it is most likely you will be ripped off.

it's much more cheaper when u books it personally. of course, they will charge you with extra since you booked it online. they gotta open it.. blah blah... and do much more work.. so it's better if u do it in person.
