Is it a surprise to see a person graduated from University to be working in a minimum wage job?

Why does it surprise my friends and my family? I mean, there are tons of people with degrees. I only graduated from a low-ranked university and with bad grades. Do you know how competitive those high paying positions are?

I really think this minimum wage job is the best I can do. I mean, I even like my job, it is easy and not stressful. I bet those high paying jobs, you have to bust your brains out everyday and are very stressful. So what do you guys think?

I think I'd be happier with a $10 an hour job that I like than with a $50 an hour job that would kill me from stress in 20 years.

It's no real surprise. As you SAY, there are so many MORE people graduating nowadays that the value of a degree is 'lessened' in the eyes of particular employers.

A 2-1 may not always cut it today.

No surprise. Everyone has to define success for themselves. That your definition does not include stressing yourself out in order to please others tells me that you will probably achieve success at a much younger age than your parents did or your friends will. God bless.

Doesn't surprise me.  You are working hard now like you did to get those bad grades.  I think you are afraid of succeeding at something.  Oh wait you did!  You got a low paying job that you are over qualified for!

No surprise at all. I find all sorts of them serving at the coffee bars. They could have bought a house with what tuition cost.

Well with the economy as it is, i'm not surprised, i'm sure you won't be there long though.  People w/degrees are seeking and getting jobs that nondegreed people are seeking.

I have a Degree in Chemistry.......I work as a full-time caretaker, and love it. My collage made me wiser...possibly, but it also made me dangerous....I am happy with my job........the degree....well.....it was the wrong choice for a mixed up kid, with low self esteem, bad attitude, a Harley, and alot of freinds that like to stay up all night. I almost went to prison, with that degree in my little hot hand....

I don't think you are serious.  However in this economy isn't a surprise to see a college graduate in a minimum wage job.
