I don't think so. It's more of a choice. If you only become atheist because you saw someone popular do it as a fad, then your not really an atheist. Being an atheist, you also have to understand WHY you did that or it doesn't uphold really.

for some people, yes. Some people really are just going through a phase.

but for others, no. I arrived at atheism after 7 years of searching through religious ideology, philosophy and logic. Most of my journey was just a process of thought (meaning i dont actually know much about EVERY single religion), but i have concluded atheism is the logical choice

I don't believe in God, I don't like religion.

I think people are finally starting to realize religion isn't everything.

Therefore being an Atheist isn't a trend, just a way to say that we don't know and we're fine with that
