  1. With gas prices the way they are and pretty much guaranteed to stay in the $3.50-$5.00/gallon range it's really a personal choice you have to make, no one else can tell you if it's right or not but you need to look at your financial as well as personal situation.   Is this going to be your only vehicle, used for commuting as well as trips to the store, vacations etc or is it just going to be a toy for weekend trips to the lake and such?   Are you willing to sacrifice on some comfort and/or luxury items like maybe not going out as much or dropping the premium cable if need be in order to keep buying gas for it?   It's definately not a vehicle that's going to completely kill your checkbook, it's not the most efficient vehicle either but it's doable if you want it.

  2. nah not unless you can't afford the gas mileage it gets....

  3. I don't know how it would be a waste of time, but the gas is money. Jeeps are for off roading and a little street driving. They are a blast to drive and will get you there and back. If you don't mind the mileage (around 16-19mpg) I would say get it!

  4. I agree with the last answer, I wouldnt buy one anyway. I had a Cheeroke that i got basically for nothing from my grandfather. It was only 4yrs old when I got it and it was in the shop all day. I cant remeber how many u joints i had replaced and how many times i went to autozone to get headlights. I fixed a number of things over the four and 1/2 years i had it, the most fun thing was when the throtle control sensor would short out or go nuts if the car got rained on and i didnt drive it everyday. The best part about that was by the time I got it to a shop it would be warm and dry enough that no one could tell me what it was for a year, I had it in 3 shops 4 times before one of them figured out it was a $30 chip. Both front door locks broke twice, and when the water pump went I had enough, went and got me a subaru.

  5. Actually, it would be a waste of time/money to buy a Jeep Cherokee, period.

This vehicle has horrible reliability. In fact, Consumer Reports magazine includes the '98-'07 Jeep Grand Cherokee on it's list of "Cars to Avoid" and it's on their "Worst of the Worst" list as well. Stay away from it unless you want to spend a lot of money and time in the repair shop.

  6. not if you like high repair bills

    and visiting your mechanic

    don't buy a Jeep.
