Is it abnormal for one to dislike their Sun sign?

if the rising, and many other planets are the same?If they do everything in their power to counteract the influences, and appear differently to others? Would this be indicated in the chart, or just a need to compensate for admired qualities that one does not already have? Does trying to drastically change your character work against your own karmic life lesson?

  1. Hey Rach,

I think those are the same people that have problems with self identity. Disliking a part of themselves that they cannot escape, running away only to find themselves run into their own self.

  2. I saw this question and LOVED it!

Look at it this way, RachStar... the Sun is your external, visible, manifest self... and the Moon is your internal, emotional, underlying self. I would be interested to know if your Moon and Sun are in signs of incompatible elements - or perhaps one is in the debilitation sign of the other?

To answer the question of which astrological indications in a chart would show disharmony between the way one *feels* and the way one *appears* you need to examine the relationship between moon and sun.

For example, what if the Moon is exalted in Taurus and the Sun is fallen in Libra??? Notice that Venus rules both of the houses, I'm not sure about western astrology, but in Vedic astrology the planets have natural and incidental relationships of friendship or enmity. Continuing the example given just above, if Venus were in a position of enmity with either the sun or moon you could predict accordingly. For example lets say Venus was in a position of relative enmity with the fallen sun. I think for sure such a person would have extreme "body issues" and feel that the person they are inside is so radically different from the body they have and the way their ego manifests in the world that they might "hate their sun sign".

  3. This is the most interesting question I have seen in days.

You have Sun in 1st house.  This placement basicly says "I am".   And with Mars in the mix, it screams it.  You might want to consider your Mars in the 1st house and take a look at that in addition to Mars in 12th.   Combine the two to get a clue who you are and how you react.   Then there is that Mars sq Moon aspect.  Mars-Moon contacts are not comfortable.  You may sometimes be angry and not even know why... just a general frustration of something being not quite right.  Mars in 1st would take it out on other.  Mars in 12th would turn it in on itself.  You likely do one than the other especially with the moon involved.  Running would probably be a good activity for you... long distance runnning.

The thing about karma is that we never really avoid it.  We will learn our lessons one way or  another.  Hard or easy, sometimes we get to choose. ;)  Astrology can help you recognize what those lessons might be.  I suggest that you look into the nodes if you haven't already.  I have two books suggestions for you:  Astrology For the Soul by Jan Spiller and The Karmic Journey by Judy Hall.   Good luck.

  4. ive heard of people who wished they were other signs. to me, if one sign or a few signs have ok reputations it isn't necessarily trye, but mostly bc the people who are representing that sign is proud to be apart of that sign. for ex. according tyo books i read. tauruses seem dull, lame, stubborn and ect. not very fun traits to have, and according to other ooks, aries seem fun, scorps "seem" the most sexual, sags are freedom loving, ect. may or may not be true, but i go around as the honest taurie i am, am appear to be fun, adventurous, insanely sexual, ect. and put it out there for all to see, and encourage th eother tauruses to act like that, the image will change. in short, i think those who don't like their sun signs don't like them selves, or they don't like being labeled and expected to act in a particular stereotype of their sign, which i am th elatter. i hate when i disagree for something i don't believe in, and am labelled stubborn, but when a pisces does it, they're a pisces. nothing more, nothing less. it's especially irking when people tell me about myself and they don't know me, or they expect me to be boring, and other signs to be fun. i just hate the ignorance. other planetay aspect and personality traits contribute to an individual!

  5. i dislike it, but i like it

  6. I don't know if it's normal or abnormal, but I do think it would be understandable for a person to dislike their sun sign.

I think if a person is raised in a certain way, i.e. the details of their life experiences greatly dictated their drives, they would probably be encouraged or discouraged to like the traits associated with their sun sign.

For instance, I know a lot of pisces men and cancer men from our grandparent's generation that would, if they were aware of astrology, dislike their sun sign. They were raised to be manly men and their watery, sensitive disposition made things hard for them. These days, it is not as bad for men of water signs as emotional expression and a softer nature is more encouraged in today's society.

I think if a person had this issue and this issue greatly dictated their actions in life, it would most likely be in their chart, represented by some kind of opposition.

I also think that working to change your character is not necessarily working against your karmic life lesson, as it can be beneficial in many ways. There are positive and negative points to every character trait there is, and I think it is important in life to bring out the positive aspects of these and accept them. A person may rebel against what they see to be a bad trait, and it's not so much that they are going against their karmic life lesson as working through a karmic life lesson to achieve understanding of themselves and their circumstances - why they are like that and how to turn that into a good thing instead of a bad thing.

A chart may outline inner conflicts that may or may not arise in different circumstances and these conflicts, I believe, can always be resolved, but only if the person who houses these conflicts makes the effort to work through them. A person blindly trying to change themselves is just working through a life lesson and would most likely, if this conflict is resolved, learn over time that this does not solve their problem and would learn to work through it a different way.

But... what do we know, I mean, really? That's just my initial and very open-to-discussion opinion.
