Does it sound the same than putting it in the front? Does it sound worse or better?

  1. Try turning all your speakers around to face the walls behind them. Listen for a while.

Is the sound worse or better?

  2. I would not recommend that.  It will sound muffled back there.  I have mine just below my tv (plasma mounted on wall).  You can look to buy a smaller speaker so it is not as noticible.

But then again if you place it behind the tv and it doesn't bother you then go for it.

  3. NO

You  will the block the sound and actors voice come mainly for this speaker . If you

can have the Speaker at ear level went you are sitting down. have  a stand or shelves to put the speaker on. It's not about how your living room  looks It's the SOUND

  4. Why would you want to place the speaker behind the TV.

I would think it would muffle the sound a little if not a lot.

It would be better to place the center speaker either above or below the TV rather than behind it.

  5. It would sound worse behind it. The sound waves are now bouncing off the back of your TV instead of directly outward toward the listener.

While a subwoofer is omni-directional and can arguably be placed most anywhere in the room, a center channel speaker is highly directional and should be positioned as closely in line with the right and left speaker as possible with no obstructions between the listener and the speaker.
