Is it acceptable that Clarence Mitchell Issues threats on behalf of the McCanns?

This quote from Mr Amaral the Potuguse Policeman in charge of the investigation into Madeleines neglect and disappearance.

Note his family dog was horribly killed by unknown assailants during the investigation.

" Those who knew me through Social Communication got an opinion based on my connection with the so-called Maddie Case. During the investigation and after being separeted, I was a target of the most terrible accusations from the British press, some local commentators and a man named Clarence Mitchell, whose role is not very well understood. On the eve of the publication of the book you already know, this gentleman was sending me threats : "that I should take care" - I was stunned!

Let me make it clear that I consider this to be an unacceptable tone, coming from a citizen of the oldest democracy in the world. Take care, why? Because I might step on a banana peel while walking? Is Mr Mitchell concerned about my health? I do not think so. We all perceive his threatening tone.

In Portugal, we are not used to people speaking that way. Nor is this the view we have of the British people, but there are always some people that fall out of standards. A criminal investigation need not be politically correct, nor fear veiled threats. The book only contains facts and contains no indictment. So the differences stand out..."

Are the British Public strong enough to ask for the truth or will they keep on swallowing the spoon fed spin from a man branded as lying through his teeth, Clarence Mitchell??

The trouble with what you read in the press is that you have to take most of it with a shaker full of salt, and not a pinch. there has been so much media interference in this affair, and media want one thing, to sell their stories, that I fear the truth will never be known. Almaral himself has a very shady past, having beeen accused of brutality and falsifying evidence. I wouldn't like to have to trust in him. One thing is sure, Madeleine has been let down very badly by all concerned, God help the poor little soul. The Portugese police botched the investigation from day one, no doubt about that. So very sad.

We weren't there, but "Take care" is a form of farewell greeting.  Or yes, it might have been a warning to take care not to publish lies or some such.  Who knows - Mr Armaral is the policeman - he should have had the presence of mind to ask what Mr Mitchell meant.

As for your comment about the McCanns being the people who are soley responsible for her disappearance - how could you possibly know that?  You obviously disbelieve the possibility of an abduction, which would mean that someone else was involved.

Even policemen get it wrong - look at the Barry George case.  If there is enough evidence to procure a conviction, the McCanns would have been arrested.

As for your comments about Faith being a paid associate or a toady - now that is beneath contempt.

Otherwise you are just going over the same ground over and over and over and over ....

What a wishful misleading question! Of course it is unacceptable, but first we have to accept your assertion that “Clarence Mitchell Issues threats on behalf of the McCanns” which is coming from a dishonourably discharged policeman who is selling a book about the case.

No it's not acceptable at all but is happening. The Mc's and their henchman have hindered the case right from the beginning and now they think they have the almighty right to stop the truth from coming out. They will stop at nothing to protect their precious reputation, which seems to have escaped them, went when they abandoned their children for their own selfish desires. The Mc's and Mitchell can threaten all they like but it won't stop the questions being asked and it won't stop people discussing the case and mostly it won't stop people saying what they think. It is an absolute disgrace what is happening and how they are trying to prevent the British people from knowing the truth! The Police report says it all. I have never known such a conniving and sickening cover-up as this, they make my skin crawl.

If your rant today is based on the line that Amaral should take care, you're barking up the wrong tree...again.

It all depends on how you interpret it.

That it was issued on the eve of the publication of the despicable book by Amaral, would tell anyone with common sense that what Clarence Mitchell meant was that Amaral should take care not to venture into libel.

Now, why would Amaral view  it as a threat?

Could it be a guilty conscience?

Never have i condoned their terrible decision to leave their babies unattended...but i will not condemn them for life...they are condemned by life as it is.  You ask about the "shutters"...Can you even begin to imagine what their state must have been when they were first asked that question? The panic, shock & grief must have blown their minds away. Yes, there were descrepancies. But they spent 14 hours being interrogated by the Police shortly after May 3. Surely that gave the police authorities time enough to ask them all they needed to.  The fact that Amaral has been sacked from the investigation bcos of his past record of torturing the mother of her missing child in an attempt to accuse her of the crime and the fact you still defend him confuses me to the extreme. Are you a paid associate of Amarals? YOU ought to be ashamed of yourself.

Apart from anything else, Clarence Mitchell seems to have put his foot in it at every opportunity and has actually done more harm to the McCanns' image than good.  I really can't understand why - if they are innocent - he is still employed by them.  

Unless there is a more sinister motive behind it all.

There is only 2 people who have let Maddie down from the start and that was her parents.

Perhaps if they had been with their 3 babies instead of stuffing their faces & getting pissed with their buddies Maddie would still be here today, enjoying the school holidays, playing with her brother & sister etc.

Even now after all this time they still think that they done no wrong on that dreadful night,

Hello Andrew T2. I am with you all the way on this. I have been reading the Joana Morais interpretation of what Mr Amaral has written.

First let me say. I admire her for her outright and unbiased reports.

Only yesterday I was reading how David Payne went away with the McCanns in 2005 to Mallorca where two of the friends in the party at the time became suspicious of him when he made paedophile signs when talking of Madeline and also his own daughter.

The couple one of which had been friends with Kate McCann for twenty years were very worried the wife told her husband to be extra vigilant

with their own daughter.

This only came to light when Madeleine went missing and the couple felt it their duty to inform the police.

All the people on here who defend the McCanns must surely have some mental block or are of the same mind.

They informed the police when they saw David Payne was with the Tapas lot

I can only offer my thanks to you for pointing out what slime Mitchell is. This and a lot more lessor known facts should be made public knowledge, especially Browns involvement.

Having lived and worked in Portugal I have an insight into the way things work and the people. Mitchells veiled threat would be an insult and therefor a personal affront. The Portuguese are not by nature hostile, but if provoked by such an insult they would feel obligated to seek satisfaction. Beware Mr Mitchell it wont be your dog!

I think the keyword that should be used is "allegedly"! Mr. Amaral alleges that he was threatened. He is a somewhat dubious character so I would require evidence before I accepted that claim.
