Is it againist golf rules to use a tee when you are using an iron? I know you start off by using a wood (or driver, whatever you want to call it). But after you hit that shot and it is not on the putting area (forgot the name they call it. I having a bad day) can you uase a tee? Any questions jsut ask.

  1. it is against the rules.

  2. The only time you can use a tee is on the tee box of every hole. Once your in the fairway you cannot move your ball(unless you hit it). On the green you may put a ball mark down pick up your ball and clean it, or whatever you want to do.

  3. It is perfectly legal to use a tee with an iron as long as you're teeing off. You cannot pick up a ball in the fairway and put it on a tee though, that is illegal.

On a side note, if I was playing with someone who was brand new to the game and could not get the ball airborne without teeing it up, I would have no problem letting them tee up a ball in the fairway (This is assuming we are not playing for money though). If you're that bad, just ask your playing partners if it's alright if you'd like to do this. I'm sure most people would not mind.

  4. you can only use a tee on the tee box which is where you hit the first shot on each hole.  You can use a tee with an iron but again only on the tee box
