  1. Actually, it doesn't matter whether it is Singapore or not, depending on the circumstances, teachers can confiscate items and there is no law requiring the items to be returned to the student, especially if there is some fear of the item being used wrongfully.  This is not a unique occurance, it happens right here in the USA.  Parents can USUALLY take steps to get the items back.  Get your parents involved.

  2. I have a "June Box" and when students have things out that they shouldn't, I take the items and place them in the box. I give all the items back in June. Before school starts and during back-to-school night I inform parents and guardians of the June Box so they know what it is all about.

  3. Knowing Singapore, I would imagine that teachers are allowed to do whatever they consider necessary to maintain discipline.  I have trouble imagining that earrings were in any way causing a disturbance, but it is not a country in which there are a lot of individual rights and freedoms.

  4. I took a DS and told the student that his parent had to come in to claim it. He didn't want to tell his parent, so it is still in my desk.

  5. yes it is against the law. they should not confiscate students things.
