Question:

Is it against the law to do wheelies in your bicycle?

The other day I was doing a wheelie in a BMX on the sidewalk. There were some cars comming, I put the wheel down (or I couldn't hold it up, can't remember). One of the cars was a cop and I don't think none of them saw what I was doing, probably the car in the front.

I wonder what a cop would tell you if they see you doing wheelies on the sidewalk, can they tell you something, stop you? is there any law that prohibits doing that?.

It's a small town and nobody use the sidewalk, and there were just "woods" on almost both sides, is kind of isolated and is not a "down town" area.

  2. Wheelie no. But if a cop thought it was reckless yes. Like doing it in a crowd etc. Sidewalk riding is illegal in many places but like you did it should be a problem.

  3. As long as you are not on the street placing yourself in danger from cars it should be OK.

  4. It's not illegal, but it's a bit dangerous if there are other members of the public around, or you accidentally veer off into the road - You potentially end up getting hurt.

I would advise not to ride on the sidewalk anyway.
