  1. Yes if there are any sharp or exposed pieces of metal that could be deemed dangerous to pedestrians or other road users

  2. absolutely as long as there are no sharp fittings or rusty metal left behind i.e bumper hangers or irons.mind you most modern cars say from the late 80's on tend to have all in one bumper/valance which leaves a huge open space left behind

  3. It's all down to health and safety. You may think it's OK without one, but imagine the damage if you hit someone. Most cars have plastic bumpers that take the impact so as to cause less damage to what you hit.

Without the bumper, exposed metal, brackets and the bonnet edge is what comes into contact with a person in the way.

    So get it fixed mate.

  4. In a car yes.  In a truck, maybe.  Depends on your state as well.

Here is the california vehicle code law regarding the requirement of bumpers:

    Passenger Vehicle Bumper Requirements

28071.  Every passenger vehicle registered in this state shall be equipped with a front bumper and with a rear bumper. As used in this section, "bumper" means any device designed and intended by a manufacturer to prevent the front or rear of the body of the vehicle from coming into contact with any other motor vehicle. This section shall not apply to any passenger vehicle that is required to be equipped with an energy absorption system pursuant to either state or federal law, or to any passenger vehicle which was not equipped with a front or rear bumper, or both, at the time that it was first sold and registered under the laws of this or any other state or foreign jurisdiction.

    Amended Ch. 451, Stats. 1973. Effective January 1, 1974.

  5. Check you local department of motor vehicles web site or just call them because some states require both front and rear on trucks and cars but at the same time some states do not require the front or rear bumpers on trucks..................

  6. Yes,

But the plod may let you off if you are taking the vehicle to a place of repair.

  7. UK Almost certainly yes under the Construction and Use regulations. You are exposing pedestrians to greater risk and yourself by having a car that will not crumple properly in a crash.

  8. In the UK, as this is the UK and Ireland section, Yes.

  9. I've seen people do it, i know it's illegal in VA, definitely a safety hazard

  10. Yes
