I first baught the car (79 Ranchero) without a title but because the car needed work and smog, I decided to sell it without a title. The buyer was aware of the title situation and agreed to proceed. Have I done anything wrong? He now has the car near Canada and cant get it to Canada because of no title. He is threating me that I broke the law.

  1. Both you and The guy you bought the car from broke the law.  Any seller is obligated to provide the buyer with a merchantable title.  And as you have found out, Besides being illegal, It is not wise to sell (or buy) a car without a title

  2. A title bond can be obtained. Just go to a local bail bonding agent with $100.This is a estimated price. Make sure to bring a bill of sell. I hope this helps to keep you out of jail and hanging on the web.

  3. in away it is. unless he signed a paper as is for parts

  4. >>  He is threating me that I broke the law.

Title is certificate of ownership.  No title = no ownership.

You should have never bought the car without title.  And then you should have never sold the car without it (because you don't own it).

    good Luck...
