Is it against the law to tell someone u work for the gov when you don't?

  1. It would depend on the situation.  If I told you, during a private encounter, that I worked in government, that would not generate any legal problems.

    If, on the other hand, I used that claim to coerce you into doing something, or giving me money, for instance, that would be fraud.

    Also, claiming to be a law enforcement officer is also cause for charges.


  2. it IS against the law to represent yourself as a law enforcement officer of ANY agency of the US.
