  1. Which rules? No, Colombia is not dangerous. However, there is still an advisory in the american travel page due to the guerrillas in the jungle, the FARC, the kidnappings, the drug cartel, etc. However, I've been there 3 times recently and I've had a great time. If you go there dont forget to visit the Salt Cathedral, it's a beautiful place. It is as dangerous as any other place in the world, including NY.

  2. I'm Colombian-American, and I know first hand that there is a lot of crime in the nation, but but being victimized by crime is only a result of associating with the wrong people. As long as you mind your own business you will be fine.

  3. Like every country in the world, there are risks....its just taking the necessary precautions which can vary from country to country.

I go to Colombia quite often......and travel in with US papers only since I have not nationalized myself as a Colombian (I can because my parents are both from this beautiful country.)

The US has a travel advisory for Colombia due to the Guerilla warfare that has plagued this country for decades now. If you stick to touristy areas....don't make it too obvious your a tourist and just do what a typical Colombian citizen does(in terms of street smarts and precautions)...than you will be alright. I've never had any problems...this country is amazing in terms of things to see and do.....extremely diverse.....

  4. They are all correct. There a travel warnings but as long as you stick to the touristy areas you should be fine. I have heard that NYC is more dangerous.

Colombia is a beautiful country and if you are thinking about going there you should check out www.colombianblog.com.
